Klimaextreme und Impacts
WissenschaftlerinTel: +49 (0)4152 87-1883
My main research expertise is the connection of large-scale climate modes on present and future regional sea-level variability and dynamics, and its impact on the coast in different regions of the world, including the Baltic, the Gulf of Guinea and, more recently, South-East Asian Waters.
My recent goal is to support the development and implementation of sophisticated statistical non-cost intensive methods which can be transferred to different regions of the world to help coastal communities to adapt and react on changing sea levels and weather extremes (e.g., by developing early warning systems).
In the last years I extended my research skills in the area of climate extremes and their impacts on the coast. Within this task, I started to learn more about machine-learning methods and its ability to help answering specific research questions in a more effective way.
I have sustained experience in the statistical analysis of combined datasets of observations, climate reconstructions and atmospheric model data output on timescales of decades to millennia.
Due to my first degree, I am also strongly interested in coastal engineering and coastal zone management issues.
My research is embedded in the “program-oriented funding” structure of the Helmholtz-Association in the Earth and Environment program and the topic 4 "Coastal Transition Zones under Natural and Human Pressures" (2021-2027). Beside this, I am continuously involved as Principal Investigator in topic-related third part funded projects.
