Materials Synthesis and Reactivity

The activities in this department aim to the development of materials for key applications in regenerative medicine (biopolymers, hydrogels, implants), artificial photosynthesis and sustainable commodity materials. The research encompasses modeling of biobased and sustainable materials and their interaction with cells, synthesis of structured materials and thin films for artificial photosynthesis, electrochemical synthesis of new compounds, and methods for carbon capture and conversion of CO2 and waste biomass into new materials and chemicals.
