My research focuses primarily on dynamic population exposure assessments to air pollutants in urban areas. By combining urban- and regional-scale emission modeling, chemistry transport modeling, and dynamic population exposure modeling for atmospheric pollutants, I aim to inform the public and support policy decisions on air quality relevant topics, such as impacts on health, legislation scenarios and sector contributions.
In addition to this primary research focus, I am also investigating sources, transport and transformation of emerging persistent contaminants across different environmental compartments, leveraging my expertise in numerical pollutant modeling.
Besides this, I am always searching for possibilities to communicate my research to the public and potential changemakers, extend my international (research) networks for fruitful collaborations worldwide, and support early career scientists in their journey to establish themselves in the scientific community and pursue impactful research.
My dedication to addressing real-world challenges through scientific research is grounded in my interdisciplinary academic background and motivated by the idea to make the world a better place for everyone. I have a foundation in environmental engineering (BSc), advanced expertise in sustainability sciences (MSc), and hold a PhD in Earth system sciences, which together have shaped my approach to tackling complex environmental and societal issues.
