Magnesium implant material for better visibility in MRI

Iron-doped nanodiamonds embedded in a magnesium alloy ensure excellent implant visibility in MRI imaging

Degradable magnesium implants are not well identified by MRI. To improve visibility, we have developed an implant material that contains iron-doped nanodiamonds. These have no influence on the degradation rate but significantly improve visibility. It can be used during implantation to ensure optimal positioning of the implant. Above all, however, the position of the implant during degradation can be observed.
